This is sort of ironic

This morning I was looking for a photo I had taken of me in Mulder's office (I was standing in front of a green screen) back at the X-Files Expo in 1998. I had it saved on my old, old (last updated 2000) website over at Tripod.

Well, I discovered that Tripod finally killed it. It's kind of ironic, considering the new movie is coming out soon, and my little home on the net had been up for eight years without an update. *sigh*

I don't think my brother (the webmaster who made it for me) saved much of the info on it.

Back in 2005 I had the good idea to send a lot of my older fic to Gossamer, most of which had never made it there for whatever reason. In the old days a lot of my fic (they were written in rhyme, thus my net handle) went to a different Gossamer archive that has since ceased to operate, and I didn't want to lose stuff.

Back when I started fanfic in late 1997, I didn't have a computer. I had WebTV, which was this box you hooked up to your TV and a phone line in order to get on the net. Our family didn't have the money for a computer back then, so a $300 piece of equipment that let me get on Usenet and read stories and check e-mail was all I needed. And man, did I use that thing. I wore out two wireless keyboards, and when they implemented new technology on the service, I would be one of the first to get it sent to me to be tested. I didn't upgrade to a computer until 2004!

Anyway, WebTV didn't have storage ability, which means I don't have anything saved anywhere except Gossamer.

Luckily I was able to access the Internet Wayback Machine and save four rhymes I had written that I never sent to Gossamer, along with two original pieces of art I had on the old website. One rhyme is lost to the Internet ether, as are all my photos I took at the Expo in 1998, and the on-location X-Files photos I took when I was in vacation in California in 1999. Not a huge loss as I'm sure I have them around somewhere at home, but still.

It's a good thing I checked this morning. It makes me feel a little sad though, knowing that a piece of my fanfic history is gone.

X-Files drabble, M/K

[info]fluffy_o asked for an X-Files snippet, in which Mulder and Krycek discuss one of the seven deadly sins

"Did you know the Latin term for lust is 'luxuria'? Interesting, isn't it? Makes it sound like the deadly sin of lust is luxurious."

They were together for yet another fleeting moment -- just enough time to ease the ache, but never enough to make Alex content. These were the hours of rough, passionate kisses and fumbling in the dark for each other; of hurried tastes of skin and sweat; of need, of want, of desire.

When their paths did collide, they flung themselves at each other with an almost primal force, desperate to reconnect after weeks, often months of separation. Their reunions were spent entirely in bed, in a safe place of Alex's choosing. He couldn't afford to be sloppy, not now. He was on the run from the Syndicate, and both of their lives were forfeit if they were caught.

But when they were wrapped around each other as they were now, Alex allowed himself to exhale. For now all he breathed was Mulder.

"Being lustful is luxurious, to me at least," Alex answered.

They were sitting in a car, its windows steamed over from their lovemaking. Alex had his leather jacket wrapped around both of them, and he was slowly stroking Mulder's jaw.

"Funny, I don't feel sinful."

Alex bent down to kiss him. "I feel redeemed."

New (to LJ) M/K story: "Stay" (1/1)

Title: "Stay" (1/1)
Author: RhymePhile
E-mail: rhymephile@hotmail.com
Distribution: Everywhere and anywhere with credit attached

Rating: R for language and adult themes
Category: slash
Keywords: Mulder/Krycek romance
Spoilers: Set directly after the movie Fight the Future
Disclaimer: I don't own the Boys. They're merely along for the ride.

Summary: On a lonely Christmas Eve, Mulder and Krycek meet up at a bar.

Author's Notes: This was written for last year's online Krycek Holiday Zine. It was exclusive to the zine, and I never got around to posting it here. Considering it's a Christmas story, I thought I'd share.

Three things...

1. The Krycek Holiday Zine is live, thanks to the fantastic efforts of [info]ursula4x and [info]aqualegia once again this year. I've contributed the Mulder/Krycek story "Stay," which you may check out here.

2. The Silver Bells and Gold Shields Challenge is complete over at [info]tietuckluv. Head over there (if you haven't already) for some lovely Elliot holiday fic, and then guess which one I wrote. I dunno, I think my writing style is too damn obvious.

3. Dudes. I apologize, but Part 10 of the Smile Series is going to have to wait until tomorrow. No one's really around tonight anyway, so it's not so terrible. I have to work tomorrow (suck!) but my boss isn't in (yayz) which means I will post it tomorrow after some final tweaking. The ending is eluding me tonight, unfortunately, and I've been sitting here all day writing. There's a lot of other fic out there to read, though!

Preview of upcoming M/K Christmas story

Despite having to write a story for Silver Bells and Gold Shields for [info]tietuckluv; a story for the [info]oz_magi; and another chapter to the Smile series before Christmas (fingers crossed), there was no way I could ignore the Krycek Holiday Zine for 2006. It's my history! I was working on something for [info]drunk_fic (only a few hundred words) and decided to tweak things a bit to make it suitable for the zine. I'm surprised at how well it's turning out. Man, it's been a while since I wrote Mulder and Krycek, so it's nice to flex the ol' muscles again. Anyway, here's a little snippet to the fic, which will be posted exclusively to the Holiday Zine the week of Christmas. I'll link to it here when the time comes.

The yellow streetlight cast a muted glow through the half-open blinds and across the living room. Mulder collapsed to the couch with a huff, while Krycek stood above him, unsure of what to do.

"I'd offer you a drink," Mulder said, his voice low and hoarse as it echoed across the living room, "but it's all gone."

"Which is why you felt that a trip to a bar on Christmas Eve was the thing to do."

"You were there too," the man on the couch pointed out.

"I had no where else to go."

"Well, you're here now."

Krycek looked down at him, struck by the odd tone in Mulder's voice.

"You're not planning on pulling a gun out from under the couch and shooting me, are you?" Krycek asked, half-jokingly. "It would kind of ruin my Christmas Eve."

"Actually," Mulder said, "I was going to ask if you wanted to sit down."

"And then you're going to shoot me?"

Mulder quirked a half-grin, quite visible in the dim light of the room. "Not tonight, Alex."

Krycek was surprised at the use of his first name, spoken without the usual sarcasm Mulder usually reserved for it. He sat down on the couch cautiously.

"The last time I was here things were different," Krycek said.

"Things are different again."

Happy Birthday, tankgirlh!

Let's celebrate with a flashback to the opening of our fanfic we wrote together waaaaaaaay back in 1999 (when you were *coff*young and innocent*coff*), A Hamburger Isn't An Ending:

Mulder pulled the car to the side of the road and shut off the engine. He batted the gold key chain hanging from the ignition.

"Mulder?"

"Hmmm?"

"Why did you stop?"

Mulder leaned his head back on the headrest, closed his eyes, and sighed.

"Scully, I have something important I need to tell you."

She sat up in her seat, her full attention on Mulder.

"You know you can tell me anything, Mulder," she said, her face serious.

Mulder looked at her, then closed his eyes again.

"I know," he said.

He leaned over and took her hand. "This is something that is truly hard for me to admit, Scully, but after five years together, I'm sure you'll understand."

"Mulder, what is it? You're scaring me."

"Scully..." he said, looking at her, "I think we're lost."

"That's it?!!" she cried. "That's what's so hard for you to admit?"

"Well, I've never gotten lost before, so..."

"Jesus, Mulder, here I thought you were going to purge your soul with some earth-shattering revelation!"

"But there's something else, Scully," he said seriously.

"Oh," she replied, taking his hand again. "Sorry. Tell me, what is it, Mulder?"

"We're out of gas, too."

She pushed his hand away. "I thought you filled the tank when I was in the bathroom at that gas station."

"No, I was playing Asteroids."

"What?"

"I forgot to get the gas. They had this old Asteroids game set up...y'know, the one with the little roller ball instead of a joystick..."

"You're saying you were playing Asteroids instead of pumping gas..."

"Could *you* honestly pass up a game of Asteroids? I mean, it's a classic..."

Need some Skinner/Krycek!

Okay, the Skinner/Krycek isn't for me, just so you know. I'm all about the M/K, people.

It's actually for my gay co-worker E, who has this thing for Skinner. We were discussing my trip to Vancouver and the wonderful mystery that is slash, and he was like, "There are actually stories with Skinner and Krycek?" To which I responded, "Dude, you don't even need porn. You can read fanfic."

Thus, I seek the assistance of my Sk/K peeps out there to recommend some good, raunchy, NC-17 Sk/K fic that I can pass along.

I'm spreadin' the Rat and Bear looooove, y'all.

[info]mf_luder_xf wanted to see when Alex Krycek from The X-Files meets Dean Winchester from Supernatural. I played with the timeline a bit; set right after Alex (might have, maybe, perhaps) shot Mulder's father.

If they can get Nicholas Lea to guest star, can they please use this scene? )

Snippet prompt -- Answer #1

[info]siberian_skys asked for an Oz/X-Files crossover in which Krycek and Toby spoke about their dead/missing lovers.

His leather jacket moaned as he reached for the beer the bartender set in front of him. He waved the man away. "I want to open the bottle myself," he mumbled, tossing a five onto the bar.

Reaching into his pocket, he found the metal opener attached to his keys. The bottle cap popped off with a satisfying hiss.

"Paranoid?"

Krycek turned to the man across from him who asked the question. He was well-dressed, with blonde hair that touched the nape of his neck. Blue eyes connected with his green, and Krycek squinted back in annoyance.

"Just careful," Krycek responded, sipping at his beer.

"I knew a guy who used to get pissed off if he couldn't wear his boots into the shower."

"Makes washing your feet a bitch, no doubt," he replied.

The blonde man chuckled and sidled over to where Krycek was perched on his stool. "Nah, he was always worried about getting Athlete's foot. He worried more about that than getting shanked."

Krycek's eyebrow rose at the turn in the conversation. "Shanked?"

The blonde man nodded and took a gulp of his martini. "Oz," he said, licking at his bottom lip. "Y'know, the prison."

"Yeah, I've heard about it."

"He used to wear his socks until his toes came through, too," the man said, smiling to himself. "Crazy fuck."

"I knew a guy who used to wear this ratty, torn Knicks jersey when we watched the games on TV. I never could get him to replace it."

"It had sentimental value?"

"He was a crazy fuck, too," Krycek smiled back.

The blonde man sipped at his drink, and the two men were quiet for a few moments.

"You miss him?" Krycek asked quietly, guessing at the man's usage of the past tense.

"Every day," the other man admitted. "You?"

"Every moment," Krycek answered, returning to his beer.

The whiff he got as he stepped over the dead rat that had made the brownstone stairs its final resting place caused Mulder to instantly reconsider his decision to meet his informant in such a location.

Dodging the remnants of what was obviously a fun party -- judging by the amount of empty beer bottles littering the steps -- he wondered how paranoid a hacker had to be to choose this fetid hellhole in which to talk. Although, thought Mulder, he was a friend of the Gunmen. That probably said it all.

It's funny the things you can remember from your childhood: favorite toys, missing teeth, first bicycles...those awkward first kisses on a sunset-drenched porch at the end of a summer day. But those memories aren't mine. My memories are distant and hazy, a fog in which actual events are mixed in with a boyhood spent dreaming I were somewhere else.

Somewhere, anywhere, but that dank, oppressive apartment on 16th Street, with no favorite toys, first bicycles, or love.

Let's do the time warp aggaaaiiin!!

I was looking through some of my old fic, and since we've been talking about "Deadalive," and the "Essence/Existence" arcs I thought I would pull out this little fic-thingy, "Le Sketch de Rat." I don't think many of you have read it (since it's from 2001) but I was reading it this morning and I thought I would post it.

It's written in sketch format (no, not script format) since this is a humor sketch like you would see on Saturday Night Live. You may have to dust off your memories for a few references.

This is set directly after the closing moments of "Existence," and it's K/Sc toward the end because I kind of make fun of Mulder. But it's funny, really. No, really. Krycek's in it! There's a mention of him wearing a short bathrobe. And there's pierogies! Try it. You'll like it. C'mon! You know you wanna!

***

"Le Sketch de Rat"

We open to: The interior of the warm, welcoming sight of Scully's bedroom, well-furnished and tastefully decorated, where the carpet matches the bedspread *and* sheets, and where it doesn't ever seem like a large man named Bruce has been fluffing the pillows before the scene begins.

Close up on: SCULLY, holding her miracle kid in what looks like a freaking silk blanket, giving MULDER that grinning/grimacing/sniffling look she gives him lately, then handing the kid to Mulder, who still has that confused look he's had since he woke from the dead. Like someone needs to sit him down and explain what the hell's been going on. Explain it a few times, starting with what ever happened to the clones, the bees, and various other plot holes.

Anyway, we hear them speaking:

SCULLY, (screwing her face up into a weepy, emotional mess): From the moment I became pregnant, I feared the truth, about how, and why, and I know you feared it too.

MULDER: I think what we feared were the possibilities. The truth we both know.

SCULLY: Which is what?

Herein lies the scene where our two heroes mash lips ever so uncomfortably, putting on brave fronts when they know deep down they should have kissed back during "Memento Mori," when it really counted.

MULDER, (wiping his lips): What?

SCULLY: You just said something about the truth, and what we know. Or what *you* know, because *I* don't know whatever truth we're supposed to know. Not at this point anyway, and it's been eight seasons.

MULDER, (motioning with his head): Y'know, the truth about the kid here.

SCULLY, (confused): What about him?

MULDER: Ol' William William here. The wonderous, joyous, little package of joy named after *both* our fathers. The fruit of my loins, so to speak.

SCULLY: Oh, Mulder, I don't know what to say...

MULDER: Say thanks, little lady, (tweaks her nose) for my incredible selfless act, one that has brought you what you've always wanted, and brought me a relaxing afternoon with a cup and a "Hustler." Read more... )

wondered if the man could tell he was an FBI agent. His
uneasiness continued as he made his way through the

pairs of eyes tracing his every move.

He finally slid into the booth opposite Krycek, casting a
