Unnecessary shit that makes me angry

UGH iTunes. I HATE YOU. I hate how you update like every other day to add shit that makes it more and more complicated for me to ACTUALLY USE MY iPOD.

It took me Googling to figure out how to actually SEE my connected iPod in the new iTunes 11. I kept clicking on the little iPod icon, which helpfully showed me tabs for Apps, Music, Movies, etc., but when I clicked on Music all it did was tell me that I wasn't syncing my music (which I don't -- I don't have the file space on my netbook).

Eventually I learned that I needed to go to View > Show Sidebar for it to show up like the old iTunes. Then, for some reason after I opened and then subsequently hid the sidebar, a new tab appeared that said "On This iPod."

WTF, Apple? Why must your "improvements" make things more difficult? I have an iPod Touch 2nd Gen. I've never updated the OS because in order to upgrade to 5.1.1, iTunes helpfully tells me that the entire iPod will be wiped and to make sure I have everything backed up! Well, no. I remain on iOS 4.3.5 because I don't choose to sync. Besides, I no longer use the iTunes store for music. I choose to use Amazon because it's DRM free and I can share that purchase with whomever I want.

And y'know, to be completely honest, iTunes language makes things confusing with backing up and syncing and restoring and all that shit. I'm fairly technically minded, but the language used is often obtuse and I prefer to err on the side of caution so I don't lose all my damn music on my iPod. It's happened before a long time ago and I don't want to go through it again.

This mess is just like when LJ "improves" stuff. No wonder why everyone fuckin' leaves! No wonder why hardly anyone posts anymore. No one can stand the interface and "improvements."
