I know I've said it before, but after tonight's Elementary episode and Jonny Lee Miller's performance, I'll say it again: I really, really like this show. So much so that I look forward to it every week.
I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I do, because CBS dramas are notorious for being, well, crappy. Sorry all you NCIS/CSI/Criminal Minds/Hawaii 5-0 people. It just is.
Jonny Lee Miller absolutely carries the show, but they've definitely improved the way Lucy Liu's Watson has become an integral addition to Holmes' methodology. They weren't sure what to do with her at first. Their partnership has now become more defined.
What's even better are the mysteries. All of Holmes' deductions actually make sense! There's no suspension of disbelief necessary, which is such a nice change of pace when it comes to a detective/cop show. You do know that CSI techs have nothing to do with solving crimes, right, America? They are there to process the crime scene, that's it. The actual homicide detective are the ones who catch the bad guys.
Anyway, long story short, I've been pleasantly surprised at how great this series is.
