Graham Norton = love

Why don't we have a talk show like Graham Norton's in the States? Even though I don't know who many of these British celebrities/popstars are, I always enjoy watching his programme <-- (that's cuz I'm talkin' about UK TV).

I caught up today with two episodes I had taped but hadn't watched. One was Miriam Margolyes and Ashley Jensen (both of whom I didn't know, even though Jensen is on Ugly Betty) and the Christmas special, which had Russell Brand, Lorraine Kelly, Christopher Biggins, Barbara Windsor, & The Feeling, all of whom I didn't know either. The Feeling was another British emo boyband that Graham is so fond of (are there thousands of them across the UK fer crying out loud?).

Stage actress Miriam Margolyes was an absolute hoot, and comedian Russell Brand was hysterically funny. I loved the way he used language -- I dunno, I can't describe it properly, only that he was really clever. Here, see what I mean.

I love the way Graham turns the show into an audience participation event, and gets the celebrities to talk about stuff you would never hear about on US TV. US TV talk shows are so frickin' boring. I mean, Miriam was talking about the time she had a guy (fully clothed) stick his erect penis into the bum area of her skirt when she was on the Tube. And Russell was talking about going to a sex addicts recovery center. Do you know how boring US celebrities are when they keep repeating the same thing over and over on talk shows?

And the funny thing is, even though I don't know who these people are, I never fail to watch, and laugh.

Graham Norton is so darned fabulous...and so darned camp....he is adorable. I love this show....it goes out on Friday and again on Sunday when it's on...he also always has great guests....Orlando Bloom and Samantha Morton were on together once and it was just hysterical when it became just like overhearing the most intimate conversations between the best of friend..that's what's great - how relaxed everyone is on his show.

I know a lot of people can only take so much of Graham, but I love his style and the fact that he's so unabashedly cheeky. I also like that he's opinionated and hates certain celebrities, LOL.
PS..yes there are thousands of emo bands here...some of whom ought to be drowned in a sack....but I can vouch for how many my pseudo son in law puts on at his venue....*sigh*
PS...why are you up so late? Go to bed!
I know, it was late, I plead the fact that I got sidetracked by some good music on Myspace.

*g*

definitely going to bed ontime tonight though.

HUGS

PS...yeah but no but yeah but no....
Vicky Pollard is great too.
He did have an american version of his talk show on Comedy Central a few years back. But sadly it did not last to long.
I love the show, so much, I talk about it every saturday night, you should join in!! Russell's was one of the best appearances..but last night's with Stereophonics, Sharon Osbourne and David Boreanz was great.

Graham came here once..I don't know if the show didn't fly or not, but I love the BBC version much better.
His American show didn't last long, although I did watch it when it was on. I don't think he's well suited to American humor, frankly. Only a few of us get it.
LOL!!! Thanks for introducing me to this marvelous show! :D I've bookmarked the YouTube page and will eventually make my way through all the posted shows. I loved the 'Shagger' of the year thing. Only in England ... could you imagine the National Enquirer with a "So and So Has Been Voted Best Fucker of the Year" front page heading? Love it!!

the feeling

The Feeling aren't "another British emo boyband." Nothing emo about them. Their debut is awesome, and you'd love it if you knew anything about them (singer is really smart, funny, great songwriter... openly gay). It made my Top 20 of 2006.

Happy new year!

Re: the feeling

Okay, then, they look like another British emo band. It's all moppy hair and eyeliner these days.
I'm currently uploading Russell Brand's stand up show "Shame." I'll make sure you get a copy. The man's hilarious. Also. Go to Youtube and watch last years Big Fat Quiz of the Year(2006). Him and Noel Feilding. It's utter fucking brilliance, it really is.
I did see that! And I love your icon; I spent a long afternoon not too long ago watching Nevermind the Buzzcocks on YouTube. Bill Bailey is wonderful.
I agree, I don't always know who the guests are, but I *love* watching.... Graham is just hilarious...and I love how he includes the audience..

And I loved watching David Boreanaz toss his socks into the audience!!! that would *never* happen on American television....
Gah, I forgot to tape this past Saturday's ep. I'm sure they'll replay it sometime. I was out and forgot to set the DVR, d'oh!
Omg I LOVE Graham Norton! He's adorable, camp and so funny. I just want to put him in my pocket and take him home. ;)

I love the nutty things he does with his celebrity guests, so much more interesting than watching them sit on a couch and talk to Jay Leno or whomever. I love it when he goes to their fan sites on the internet right there and calls the people up, or just pulls out some risque prop or something. It's hilarious. I loved the ep with Brian Molko of Placebo. Graham gave him a guitar-shaped toilet seat (!) and he had this voice-activated vibrator, which he gave Brian the microphone to and strapped the other end on an audience member (RIGHT ON her crotch, but over her jeans) and had Brian sing into it. Hysterical.
GA appeared on Graham Norton's show twice I believe. I saw some clips on youtube and could not stop laughing at how naughty and juvenile the jokes he was exchanging with GA, who was game for most of it. Don't think DD has been on though. Sorry XF on the brain.
