Quick question

Not having ordered Showtime I don't quite know the answer to this, despite my job as a DVD reviewer, but has anyone seen enough of The Tudors to tell me if I can give the DVD set to my parents?

I'm going to get around to watching it eventually, and since I got it in the mail today I thought I'd give it to them for Christmas.

They both watched Rome (my mom at certain points with her hands over her eyes, heh) and enjoyed it. Is The Tudors similar in nature to Rome, or is it all naked royal family debauchery? My father liked the historical aspects to Rome, while my mother loved the period costume and relationships. Are they going to yell at me about "All that guy does is have sex with women every single episode" if I give them the DVDs?

I've just now realized that I never made a Rome icon. *sigh* Team Atia!

The Tudors have less sex scenes than Rome, and they are less...raw, I'd say. Butthen I LOVE Rome for it's feeling of historical "authenticity", while The Tudors is PURE eye-candy. They, IMHO, don't even pretend to TRY to be historically precise. So, for a one-time watch, they are fine or to be given as present to costume-drama loving parents.
Haven't watched it at all, because I haven't had time... but I can tell you that my mother watches and enjoys The Tudors.
I watch The Tudors even if it isn't accurate and I love English history. It will make a fine gift.
Tudors is total eye candy (from the few episodes I've seen) - love love the costumes and the sets. I know nothing about the accuracy of the English history, but it's just nice to look at the pretty. :)

I'd still look at the pretty if I could afford Showtime... heck, I'd probably have watched "Californication" if I had it. But, watching it on the parental's Showtime... good stuff.
